1/20 Weekend Live Music: Jake Gau

Neighbor Jake is a NE Minneapolis bassist who is passionate about sharing his unique take on the instrument with all types of audiences. He grew up loving music and has been playing the bass for over 20 years. You can find him at any live music event and talking to anyone who will listen about why he loves the bass guitar.   Jake collaborates with all sorts of local artists, but in his recent work he has focused more on solo, instrumental-only performances. His original songwriting for the bass guitar emphasizes its various ranges and voices. His pieces are often long-form arrangements of interconnected musical ideas, carefully balanced between the melodic and the rhythmic.
